Caribbean Medical Services Association (CMS) is a 501(c)(3) humanitarian organization whose mission is to provide medical equipment, services and supplies to developing countries in the Caribbean.

The organization was established to honor and recognize the personal contributions of prominent and distinguished nationals and to continue their humanitarian legacy and vision.  This health initiative is motivated by the love of these distinguished nationals for the citizens of these Islands in the region.  At the present time, we have allocated our efforts to the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis and will expand our efforts to other islands in the Caribbean as funds and resources become available.

Aquaponics Farming Project

Caribbean Medical Services is working with a generous donor to establish an aquaponics farming project in St. Kitts. The current donors are a physician and spouse who are spearheading the project and have established a prototype. The project is in the final stages and will be ready for delivery and implementation in St. Kitts in the fall of 2015, pending availability of additional funding.

The project involves raising tilapia fish and growing vegetables in a mutually beneficial and virtually self-sustaining system. The fish need oxygenated water cleaned of excrement they create. Pumping the dirty water away from the fish and into grow beds allows nitrifying bacteria to convert the fish waste into nitrates and fuel plant growth. Thereafter, dropping the clean water back to the fish provides the oxygen needed by the fish. The project involves growing plants, feeding some to the fish, and allowing the rest of the plants and fish to be available for consumption. This farming technique efficiently uses space and water and will help provide islanders a self-sustainable way to introduce them to the concept aquaponic farming and the aquaponic farming facility will provide them with fresh, low cost, diabetic friendly, food choices that are often cost prohibitive and of low quality and poor nutritional value.

Caribbean Medical Services is seeking donations and sponsorship for the Aquaponics Farming Project. Sponsors will be recognized on the Caribbean Medical Services website and corporate recognition and signage will be displayed on individual tanks and in the St. Kitts aquaponic facility. We also welcome your expertise and involvement in the project.

Please contact admin@cmedicalservices.org for additional information or to offer your support for this project.

Children's Advisory Board's Fundraising Activities

Buddy Bear is the Children's Advisory Board's first initiative. Through this initiative, we are raising funds that will allow us to give a stuffed bear to each pediatric patient admitted to the hospital in St. Kitts.  The bear is the child's hospital buddy and take home friend.
