The Team

Our Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is comprised of professionals in the medical field and nationals who have lived abroad but have strong family, business and professional ties in the Caribbean region. The Board introduced the idea of conducting a Needs Analysis which continues to provide essential information not otherwise collected or available. The Needs Analysis has identified the requirement for state-of-the-art medical and diagnostic equipment, in addition to critical medical supplies needed on a daily basis. Board Members have successfully fostered relationships and matched donors' charitable interests and contributions with the needs of the recipients and ensured the prompt delivery of donated services and supplies. Board Members have fostered relationships with high-level donors and facilitated fund-raising events for humanitarian programs both in the U.S. and Caribbean. The appointed Board Members and Advisory Board Members have extensive qualifications and their selection was based on their experience and qualifications, personal and professional references, in addition to background checks being completed on each Board and Advisory Board Member.

Honoree

Caribbean Medical Services Association (CMS) is honoring Sir Cuthbert Montraville Sebastian GCMG, OBE, CM, MD who was appointed Governor General of St. Kitts and Nevis by her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second and was knighted as Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and Saint George from Her Majesty on May 31, 1996. Sir Cuthbert served as Chief Medical Officer and practiced in OB/GYN at the main hospital in St. Kitts in the 1960's. Sir Cuthbert is the recipient of many medals of honor for his service in the armed forces and has been recognized by the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Scotland and London and also recognized in the medical field by academia in Nova Scotia, Canada. Sir Cuthbert has been distinguished for his outstanding career and service to humanity in the field of medicine and has been honored for his service by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second. Sir Cuthbert is credited with delivering over 20,000 babies in his career and also credited with eradicating many tropical diseases in the Caribbean as recorded in his book "St. Kitts - 100 Years of Medicine". We also acknowledge and recognize the contribution of Sir Cuthbert's brother, the late Stanley Sebastian, who was appointed as the Chief Water Engineer of the Federation and who designed and engineered an ingenious water distribution system that redirected water from the mountains and rain forests to supply the highest quality of drinking water to the entire population of the islands. Today, land at Franklands Estate that is owned by Sir Cuthbert provides 500,000 gallons of water per day to the entire Island of St. Kitts. Sir Cuthbert's devotion and love for medicine is aptly described, depicted and illustrated in the book "St. Kitts - 100 Years of Medicine" in which he wrote, "I had to let people know the foundation of the medicine we practice in St. Kitts is spiritual and scriptural." From the preface of this book, Sir Cuthbert captures the heart of his love for medicine and his commitment of service to his country. CMS is proud to honor Sir Cuthbert and CMS's goal is to continue his legacy and vision to make a life long medical difference one citizen at a time, to create healthier citizens through better access to health care and much needed medical services, to work towards increased and better health care and longevity for citizens of the Island and to raise the medical standards and create healthier citizens of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis and to mirror our efforts throughout the entire Caribbean region.
